Warm stone massage, also known as hot stone massage, is a therapeutic technique that combines massage therapy with heated stones.

Smooth, flat stones (usually basalt or volcanic rock) are heated to 120°F-140°F (49°C-60°C). Oil is applied to the skin. Heated stones are placed on key areas (e.g., back, shoulders, neck). Therapist uses long strokes, kneading and pressure points to manipulate muscles then glides heated stones along muscles for deep relaxation.
